Made right here in Devon
My name is Ben Bewsher and I'm a furniture manufacturer and restorer.
After 15 years as a professional wildlife conservationist I moved back to Devon in 2016 and began to restore furniture. As my skills developed I was drawn towards designing and manufacturing my own ideas.
Inspired by the mid century shelving systems made in Denmark, Sweden and Britain, BRAY uses FSC certified timber and steel rails to provide a contemporary, industrial aesthetic that is subtle and functional.
The use of solid wood as opposed to the more widely utilised wood veneered MDF, allows restoration of BRAY furniture to be carried out over many more generations then the alternatives.
Solid wood panels carefully constructed.
Each and every panel made for BRAY shelving is manufactured from from rough sawn FSC certifified timber in my own workshop. As I process each piece of timber I study the grain direction and its natural beauty to determin which pieces will be used in the most prominant areas.
Get in touch to descuss any options you may like to add such as drawers and doors. Other timbers and alternative rail materials (including wood) are also available on request.

Dovetails
Whether you have a passion for traditional furniture building techniques or just want to know that your shelving system has been crafted with care, you'll no doubt be familier with the dovetail joint. All BRAY cabinets are made using dovetails that provide a mechanical lock and give a reasuring integrity to the whole unit.
A finish that takes nothing away
BRAY shelving uses Ash because of its light colour and natural variation of the grain that displays the individuality of each piece of furniture made. To preserve this appeal, three coats of hard wearing wax varnish is applied to leave the wood looking entirely natural.
